The second annual Griz Day at the Carousel is this Saturday, June 15, from 11am to 3pm. Grizzly football and tennis players, and Spirit Squad members will be part of this exciting event.
Grizzly athletes will sign miniature footballs with the Carousel logo, or tennis balls with the University of Montana logo, ride the Carousel and spend time engaging with fans, big and small.
“This event was started last year by Jacob Haas, a senior Griz football player. It was a great opportunity for children and the community of Missoula to meet some outstanding student athletes and showcase them in a different light ," says Julie Foley, organizer of the event. “We're excited to make this an annual event, as folks love to watch the players and spirit squad members in action, and have a chance to meet them in person.”
The University of Montana is donating temporary tattoos for the children who attend the event, as well as many items for a silent auction to benefit the Carousel: two t-shirts, a signed football, a pair of season tickets for the men’s basketball season and a pair for the Lady Griz season, and a basket of Grizzly goodies. Townsquare Media has added two tickets to the Headwaters Country Jam, and Osprey tickets for two people to attend two games, plus popcorn and drinks. In addition, Townsquare Media also donated a 60-minute massage from MSM Massage Clinic.
One young man who attended last year’s Griz Day was heard to tell his grandmother, “This is the best day of my life.”
